Corrine Harper Kassing Mt. Sterling - Corrine Harper Kassing, age 95, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Mt. Sterling Health and Rehab Center. She was born November 26, 1928 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of George Leslie and Ruth Myrtle Byrnes Harper. She married James William Kassing on November 26, 1945 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1998. Corrine only had an 8th grade education but in her own words, "I guess you could say my degree has been in Faith, Family, Home, Friends and The Farm". Until the evening before she died she was discussing farm business. She became a farm wife at 16 and was a partner and helper to her husband, Jim. She lived and breathed everything about the farm. She began to worry about the potential wind and hail storms from the second the crop was in until it was harvested. She delivered "meals on wheels" her words, to the field spring and fall. Until
